Jose Mourinho to West Ham United update shared by Fabrizio Romano after what he’s heard

Fabrizio Romano has shared an update with regards to the chances of Jose Mourinho replacing David Moyes as West Ham manager.

Mourinho’s name is one of many to have been mentioned with regards to the West Ham job, which is currently occupied by Moyes.

The Scotsman is due to be out of contract at London Stadium in the summer, but he has been offered the chance to stay on should he wish.

In an update on his personal Daily Briefing page on Monday morning (15 April), Romano said: “There have been some surprise reports linking Jose Mourinho with West Ham.

“Honestly I have zero about Mourinho and West Ham now. I have no idea if he’d accept this kind of job, because I’m not aware of anything happening.

“Let’s see if becomes concrete, but as of today, it’s not something I am personally hearing.”

Is Jose Mourinho a good option for West Ham United?

If Moyes does depart London Stadium in the next couple of months, United need to get his successor spot on.

Right now, the Irons are in a very comfortable place. The club is competing for a European spot in the Premier League and making an impact on the continent.

Those who want Moyes out are after a more attacking style of play and similar results. Mourinho is a serial winner, but will his football be entertaining? That is very unlikely.

For all of Mourinho’s success, he is also a very combustible character. It will make for great entertainment, but this is surely not the route to go down.

Instead, someone like Ipswich Town boss Kieran McKenna, who has worked wonders with the Tractor Boys and has previous experience working at Manchester United, looks a forward-thinking choice.

There is then Will Still, who has built up quite the reputation in France and is a big West Ham supporter.

There is no reason why United cannot have their pick of manager, and Mourinho just does not seem like the wisest of choices at this point.

In other West Ham news, Andy Townsend believes a decision may already have been made by Moyes regarding his future.
