West Ham United: Fabrizio Romano says ‘it’s true’ in Lucas Paqueta and Kevin De Bruyne update at Manchester City

Fabrizio Romano says “it’s true” Manchester City are still in the hunt to sign West Ham star Lucas Paqueta this summer.

The transfer specialist reported on his Daily Briefing (31 March) that the 26-year-old is “super appreciated by Pep Guardiola’s side but nothing has developed ahead of a potential transfer from London to Manchester.

However, it is understood there will be discussions in the summer once the futures of players like Kevin De Bruyne are cleared up.

“As for City, there are fresh links with West Ham star Lucas Paqueta, and it’s true he remains appreciated by City,” Romano said via his Daily Briefing on Sunday, 31 March.

“He was first linked last summer and he’s always been super appreciated by City. But at the moment there is nothing new in terms of contacts or talks, as City never start talks so early and also they want to understand what’s going to happen with some players at the club like De Bruyne, his future will be discussed in the summer.

“But for sure, City’s appreciation for Paqueta remains.”

Will Manchester City sign Lucas Paqueta from West Ham United?

Paqueta is one of the best players in the Premier League outside of the so-called big six.

This season, the Brazil international has scored seven goals and supplied seven assists in 34 appearances across all competitions for West Ham while last term, he played a major role in winning the Europa Conference League.

Paqueta is definitely a player you can see playing for Manchester City, unfortunately.

He’s extremely technically gifted and has that star quality about him when he plays.

If West Ham do let him go, they should be looking to get a lot of money for him.

West Ham United
West Ham face a summer of uncertainty regarding Lucas Paqueta’s FA ban.

While it might not be the same sort of fee Declan Rice commanded when he left the Irons for Arsenal for over £100million, Paqueta isn’t far off that.

He’s a Brazil international who’s proven in the Premier League and Europe and is currently at the peak of his career.

West Ham, however, should do their best to rebuff any offers because it’ll be very hard to replace the former Lyon ace.
