West Ham United eye Quilindschy Hartman transfer amid Aaron Cresswell Wolves exit plea

West Ham have looked at Feyenoord left-back Quilindschy Hartman as a possible alternative to Rennes’ Adrien Truffert, according to Mail Plus.

The two defenders, both 21, are in the Hammers’ sights as Aaron Cresswell heads for a possible London Stadium exit, after the 33-year-old reportedly made a plea to David Sullivan to let him go to Wolves [Alan Nixon via Patreon, 30 July].

West Ham are now ready to step up their pursuit of Truffert this summer, according to the Mail, but the one-cap French international is currently recovering from an injury and didn’t play against the Irons on Saturday (29 July).

Now, as a potential replacement Hartman has been under consideration after winning the Eredivisie title with Feyenoord last season.

The young full-back made 33 appearances in all competitions in his first full season with the first team, and could come into the frame if the push for Truffert in “the coming days” is unsuccessful.

Options

As with all positions this summer there appears to be no shortages of ideas on targets at West Ham, but there is a severe lack of concrete advances towards actually wrapping any up.

It appears that Truffert is the preferred option now to come in at left-back, and presumably free Cresswell to follow Craig Dawson in making a move north to be closer to family at Molineux.

The Belgian-born Rennes man is by far the more experienced and perhaps represents less of a risk in that sense, but Hartman has already established himself in Feyenoord’s title-winning side under Arne Slot.

He also gained experience in the Europa League last term, and with West Ham qualifying again after their victory in the Europa Conference League final that would tick another box despite his relative inexperience.

But Truffert, assuming he recovers from his injury in the near future, looks to be the primary option at left-back, although time is running out to get deals done after the clashes between David Moyes and Tim Steidten over targets behind the scenes so the club will need to get a move on.

In other West Ham news, Fabrizio Romano has issued an update on a reported major swap deal involving the Irons.
