West Ham United exit on the cards already for Gianluca Scamacca amid transfer development at Napoli

Napoli are “monitoring” Gianluca Scamacca as the West Ham United striker struggles to adjust to life in the Premier League, according to Italian reporter Ciro Venerato.

The Rai Sport journalist has suggested (during 1 Football Club radio show, quoted by ArenaNapoli, 29 November) the 23-year-old could well be on the Azzurri’s radar should a bid of over £86million arrive for Victor Osimhen arrive.

Osimhen has attracted interest from Manchester United (Manchester Evening News, 29 November) but it’s believed the Red Devils are not prepared to spend silly money on the Nigerian striker.

West Ham

It’s understood Napoli have a list of potential replacements which include Scamacca and former West Ham target Armando Broja.

Shock

It’s been a tough start to life in East London for Scamacca who has struggled to hit the heights which were expected of him after his move from Sassuolo. There have been moments of brilliance, but there have also been periods where he has coasted through games and really lacked consistency.

Moyes’ tactics haven’t helped the 23-year-old, with a number of fans and pundits calling for the Italian to play alongside Michail Antonio up front. Don Hutchison (Twitter, 30 October) has been the latest to suggest the pair should be utilised in a strike partnership.

West Ham

Scamacca has signed a long-term contract at the London Stadium so it’s unlikely he will be going anywhere anytime soon and there does need to be some patience from the fans when it comes to his performances.

He’s the perfect example of a player who is potentially being wasted in Moyes’ defensive system at the London Stadium. If West Ham played with more freedom and looked to dominate games more, we could well see the striker thrive in a Claret and Blue shirt.
