West Ham United enquire in transfer pursuit of Bayer Leverkusen defender Jonathan Tah
West Ham have reportedly made an enquiry into the services of Bayer Leverkusen defender Jonathan Tah on the back of a good season.
According to Sky Sports in Germany [5 June, 17:40], the 27-year-old has a release clause of £15.5million and manager Xabi Alonso wants to keep him at the club.
It’s understood that there have been several clubs asking about the Germany international, but the Hammers’ name has been mentioned.

Good move
West Ham have suffered a number of defensive woes this season and may look to strengthen their resolve with a new centre-back.
Angelo Ogbonna seems to be pushing himself way too much and perhaps would be better off taking it easy and letting someone else come in.
Craig Dawson also left the Hammers in January so it does make sense to sign an established centre-back and few come better and cheaper than Tah.

He’s a tall and strong centre-back who’s capped multiple times by Germany – a country known for its world class talents.
He was also named in the Europa League Team of the Year this season so it’s not like he’s on the back of an underwhelming season.
Alonso wanting to keep him may be immaterial as he’s got a release clause and if West Ham manage to trigger it then he will be on his way out if he can agree on personal terms with them.
