West Ham United deny any interest in replacing David Moyes with Jose Mourinho
West Ham have knocked back any speculation regarding Jose Mourinho replacing David Moyes as manager, according to Claret & Hugh.
According to laRoma24 [7 March], the Hammers made a “notable offer” to AS Roma head coach Jose Mourinho to replace David Moyes in the London Stadium managerial hot-seat.
The report claimed that a rich and ambitious contract has flattered former Chelsea and Manchester United coach, but Mourinho doesn’t intend to take it into consideration.

And a key source close to Claret & Hugh [7 March] has claimed that the Italian never has been and never will be a target for the club, should they replace Moyes.
One source told the Hammers insiders: “Let’s be honest, he’s proved himself hard work at most clubs he has joined.”
Steer clear
Mourinho’s managerial lure is clear considering the success he’s enjoyed and the trophies he’s won throughout his glittering career, but it is terribly unlikely the former Chelsea boss would consider leaving the prestigious Roma for a side struggling in a relegation dogfight.
It’s unlikely the Italian would consider a move at the end of the season too. Mourinho is a target the Hammers should steer clear of. There is no need to waste their precious and crucial time scouring the managerial market for coaches who seem far from their remit.

With the club looking to undergo a huge rebuild this summer, they may be well equipped to go for a much younger, vibrant and hungry coach like Manchester United legend Michael Carrick who is working wonders at Middlesborough currently or even Nottingham Forest’s Steve Cooper.
The Hammers still remain an attractive proposition for many across the continent, and they can certainly do a lot better than Moyes in the long term. However, the club may well be in a sticky situation should they sack the former Everton boss before the end of the campaign.
Even still, that remains unlikely considering the board’s continued support [The Athletic, 5 March].
