West Ham United defender Issa Diop to undergo his Fulham medical this week

West Ham have agreed a deal to sell Issa Diop to Fulham and the move is expected to be completed this week, as per Dharmesh Sheth.

The Sky Sports journalist has shared on Twitter on 8 August that Diop will undergo his medical this week as he is close to joining his next club.

There is a difference in reporting regarding the transfer fee. French journalist Dahbia Hattabi suggested that a fee of £17 million has been agreed, while Jacob Steinberg of The Guardian says it is around £15 million.

Sheth reports that the fee is around £13m plus add-ons, with the player expected to sign a five-year deal.

The Sky journalist wrote on Twitter: “Issa Diop expected to have Fulham medical this week. West Ham United accepted offer believed to be £13m plus add-ons. 5 year contract.”

New signings?

It looks like the Hammers have managed to get a fee something between £13-17m which is good business.

Diop spent four seasons at the club managing 120 appearances and scoring eight goals.

However, he failed to live up to the hype when he first arrived, and his departure from the club is only a matter of time.

It became clear that he is on the verge of exit after he wasn’t picked for the game against Manchester City, although he wasn’t injured.

West Ham

Fulham were heavily linked with a move for the centre-back, and Marco Silva will be happy that he has finally gotten his top summer target.

The Hammers need to sign a centre-back and a left-back before the end of the transfer window, but Diop’s departure would raise their transfer budget.

Angelo Ogbonna is still not fully fit yet while Craig Dawson is injured at the moment. It means, the Hammers have only one centre-back available at the moment.
