West Ham United defender Ben Johnson is edging closer to return date from injury

West Ham United defender Ben Johnson is said to be nearing a return from injury in a timely boost for David Moyes, according to ExWHUemployee.

Johnson’s absence has been huge for the Hammers and their defensive frailties have been all too apparent in recent Premier League games.

The Hammers’ defence has been horrendous and the need for some competition for his starting spots is needed, with the youngster certainly providing this.

Speaking on the West Ham Way Podcast, Ex claimed that Johnson is a “couple of weeks” away from a return.

Despite this being a major boost for West Ham, it does little to plaster over the cracks for Saturday’s game against Wolves, which is seen as a must-win fixture for Moyes.

Needed.

The defender is now agonisingly close to making his return for West Ham United, having been absent in the opening weeks of the Premier League season.

It was first thought that the monstrous centre-back would be out until after the FIFA World Cup, however, it seems his injury isn’t as bad as first thought.

The promising full-back will provide out-of-form Vladimir Coufal with some food for thought when he’s back in the matchday squad; something the Czech international needs.

And with European games to juggle alongside Premier League action, Moyes will need as many of his first-team squad fit and firing in the coming weeks.

Johnson’s versatility is a priceless attribute when considering this; he’s able to play either side on the backline as well as in central defence.

After a breakthrough campaign last year, hopefully, Johnson can return and hit the ground running, he could prove to be the answer to the Hammer’s woeful defence.
