West Ham United decide on major city as new destination for ‘scouting network’
West Ham United have travelled to South America for their latest scouting mission, with the Hammers keen on one city in particular, as per Canal do Pedrosa,
West Ham made some major transfer moves in the summer, but it seems like the club are still working on identifying promising talent in South America.
According to Brazilian outlet Canal do Pedrosa, as translated by Sport Witness the Hammers have set up shop in Rio de Janeiro to scout Brazil’s brightest talents.

The report suggests that West Ham are creating a “structure” to provide deeper analysis to players from the local clubs – Vasco, Flamengo, Fluminense and Botafogo.
An eye on the future
While it’s always exciting to see West Ham splash the cash on a ready-made star like Lucas Paqueta or Gianluca Scamacca, it’s also very promising to see the club’s long-term aims.
The Hammers aren’t always able to financially lock horns with the Premier League powerhouses, but by scouting talent while young it ensures the club can buy cheap and develop bright stars to fulfil their potential.

Brazil is infamous for it’s ability to produce world-class youngsters, with many of the world’s best players hailing from the South American nation.
The club is also not unfamiliar with Brazilian talent, with Paqueta and Emerson both hailing from there. Paqueta was actually born in Rio and could be a catalyst behind the club’s decision to choose there as the scouting location.
Hopefully, if all goes well, West Ham are rewarded for their efforts and discover a young talent willing to sign for the club.
