West Ham United: David Ornstein shares Ruben Amorim update with Liverpool unlikely

West Ham are now plotting an audacious swoop for Ruben Amorim to replace David Moyes with a Liverpool move now not on the cards, according to David Ornstein.

The Athletic journalist claims that a move to Liverpool is unlikely as things stand, with Jurgen Klopp leaving at the end of the season.

While no decision has been made on Moyes as he could leave in the summer, the Sporting CP manager is being considered by the Hammers with Graham Potter also linked.

Via Twitter, Ornstein wrote: “West Ham in talks over ambitious move for Ruben Amorim if David Moyes goes. Julen Lopetegui also assessed but Amorim current top target. #WHUFC said to appeal but unclear where they sit among 39yo’s options. Liverpool looks unlikely.”

Ruben Amorim would be a great appointment for West Ham

Amorim would be good news for the Hammers as his track record at Sporting CP showcases his ability to transform a team and achieve success, having won the league title and league cup in the 2020/21 season.

His tactical acumen, favouring an aggressive high press and a flexible 3-4-3 system, aligns well with West Ham’s aspirations to play more dynamic and attacking football.

His preference for highly energetic and physically robust players would bring a new level of intensity to the team – something that fans would want.

Additionally, Amorim’s experience in developing young talent and integrating them into the first team would be invaluable for the Irons.

His work at Sporting has seen the club maintain a competitive edge despite the sales of key players while his ability to adapt and maintain strong performances, such as reaching the Europa League quarter-finals, demonstrates his strategic flexibility and resilience.

Furthermore, his reputation and connections in the Portuguese market could provide the London club with a competitive edge in player recruitment, potentially enabling the club to acquire high-quality talent at a lower cost.

Whether or not he agrees to move to the London Stadium, remains to be seen.
