West Ham United: David Moyes update as owners have decision to make at London Stadium

West Ham United manager David Moyes’ future has come under scrutiny, with Graeme Souness saying the club’s hierarchy have “a decision” to make in the coming months.

Souness and Simon Jordan were discussing the Hammers’ form in the wake of a 2-0 home loss to Fulham, with the second leg of their Europa League quarter-final coming up against Bayer Leverkusen.

Souness response came after he was asked if Moyes was “doing enough” by Jordan on TalkSPORT’s latest episode of Simon & Souness.

“That’s his way of playing football, and that becomes a decision for the owners at West Ham,” he said.

Picturing the conversations of West Ham’s board, Souness said: “I know we’re getting results, I know we’re finishing in the top eight, but the supporters are not enjoying their football.”

“Do they change that for someone to come in and play front-foot football, and win games and have more of the ball, but get mugged off on a regular basis?”

David Moyes under pressure to turn West Ham season around

West Ham are approaching a pivotal point in their season, with this week seeing them go up against newly-crowned Bundesliga champions Leverkusen at the London Stadium.

The first leg saw the Hammers absolutely dominated at the BayArena, conceding a total of 33 shots and having just one themselves, but still managing to keep Xabi Alonso’s side out in open play before conceding from two late corners.

David Moyes will be hoping Jarrod Bowen is back fit and firing for their second leg against Leverkusen.

The Irons therefore head into the second leg at home with a 2-0 deficit to overcome – against a side who are yet to lose a match in any competition this season – although Moyes is quietly confident that his players can complete an unlikely comeback.

West Ham may have come back from 1-0 down to beat Wolves in controversial circumstances the weekend prior, but against Fulham on 14 April, they were hugely underwhelming, conceding twice to Andreas Pereira in both the opening and closing stages of the contest.

With another capital clash with Crystal Palace coming up just days after their second-leg task against Leverkusen, Moyes’ side have the chance to revive their season and keep their push for the Premier League’s European places intact.

The manager may just need it.

In other news, a new update has emerged surrounding the Hammers’ pursuit of Brentford forward Ivan Toney this summer.
