West Ham United: David Moyes told to complete London Stadium exit after loss v Fulham

West Ham United manager David Moyes has been told he should leave the London Stadium following the Irons’ defeat to Fulham by Michael Brown.

The Hammers suffered a new blow to their slim hopes of European football next season as an Andreas Periera brace ensured that Marco Silva’s side claimed all three points with a 2-0 win on Sunday (14 April).

Moyes is still yet to agree on a new deal beyond the end of the season and with pressure mounting from supporters on the Scotsman, Sky Sports pundit Brown has suggested it would be best for all parties to part ways.

Speaking on Sky Sports News (14 April, 16:08) he said: “Could the owners have put it to bed earlier by giving him that new deal? It’s gathered much more momentum now, I would be amazed if he could actually stay there.

“Change will come and I’m not sure really even if he is offered he should stay there. I think he’s done enough to get a top job. If you’re not wanted and you’re not welcome, it’s gone too far now for him to stay on.”

The initial suggestions in East London were that Moyes would likely extend his stay beyond the end of the season, but another big defeat to Silva’s side could well increase the pressure on the Scotsman this summer.

While a one-off defeat isn’t that damning, especially against a side as good as Fulham, it was more the manner of the loss. Once again, West Ham were set up defensively and failed to take their chances going forward.

With the likes of Mohammed Kudus and Lucas Paqeuta shining in East London, there is a feeling that a more attack-minded manager could get more out of this current crop of players, particularly in possession of the ball.

As Brown suggested, it might be best if all parties agree to part ways at the end of the season. Moyes will get another good Premier League job while the Hammers can finally get their more exciting, youthful manager.
