Stephen Warnock makes David Moyes claim live on Sky Sports amid West Ham United sack talk

Stephen Warnock expects David Moyes to turn things around at West Ham amid suggestions his job at London Stadium is now under pressure.

West Ham’s disappointing run of form continued on Sunday [29 October] as they fell to a 1-0 loss at home to Premier League strugglers Everton.

According to Claret & Hugh [30 October], Moyes is now closer to the sack than he has been in a while as a result of the Hammers’ loss of form.

However, asked on Sky Sports News [30 October, 10:56] if West Ham should be worried, Warnock said: “It’s just one of those things at the moment.

“They’ve had a tough run of games and I’m sure David Moyes will get it right.”

Pressure’s on

Moyes proved his doubters wrong by winning the Europa Conference League in June, which was followed up by a positive start to this season.

But since taking 10 points from the first 12 on offer, United have since taken just four points from a possible 18 and have slipped down the table.

That is not to mention the 2-1 Europa League loss at Olympiacos last Thursday (26 October), making it three defeats in a row in all competitions.

Quite simply, Moyes cannot afford for this disappointing run to continue for too much longer if he is to keep hold of his job.

Defeat to London rivals Arsenal in the EFL Cup on Wednesday (1 November) will only ramp up the pressure further.

This is not the first time Moyes’ job has seemingly been on the line, and it certainly did not work out too badly for him earlier this year.

All we can hope for is a similar inspirational run over the coming weeks and months.

In other West Ham news, a journalist has joked that one player must have “incriminating evidence” on Moyes.
