West Ham United: David Moyes and Tim Steidten admission made amid ‘complicated’ situation

It hasn’t been a “great working environment” between David Moyes and Tim Steidten at West Ham, according to Dean Jones.

Speaking to GiveMeSport on Friday (16 February), the former Eurosport journalist said there is always a lot of people interfering when it comes to transfers with the Hammers, whether it’s third parties, agents or other people at the London Stadium.

He added that it’s a “complicated situation”, but that technical director Steidten is getting an “interesting glance” at what it’s like to work for the Irons.

“I don’t think he’s going to be absent of any blame in what’s happened and I think you’d have to find out deeper as to what’s going on between Steidten and Moyes and to what extent any friction might have caused further problems at West Ham,” said Jones.

“Maybe it’s minimal, maybe it’s more than that. I don’t know. But it’s not been a great working environment at times by the sound of things.

“And there’s always a lot of people interfering by the sound of it when it comes to transfers, whether it’s third parties or agents or other people at the club. So it’s always a complicated situation, but Steidten is certainly getting an interesting glance at what life’s like at West Ham.”

West Ham chiefs must find way to work together

It isn’t anything new to hear that Moyes and Steidten aren’t on the same page about matters behind the scenes as they have been butting heads since the German joined the club in the summer.

But if they both want to remain at West Ham, they simply must find a way to work together or something is going to have to give before too long.

The Hammers boss has to understand that decisions around transfers can’t solely be down to him and the club are now looking to operate differently in the transfer market.

David Moyes has found himself under increasing pressure at West Ham United.

Steidten has been tasked with finding potential gems that can play in the first team in the future and potentially make the Irons money down the line, so he needs to be given the freedom to do that without his decisions being questioned.

It just feels like this situation is probably going to come to head over the next few months if matters don’t improve between the duo as we can’t afford to be making mistakes and missing out on players in the summer window.
