West Ham United: Darren Bent shares who he wants to win Conference League final live on talkSPORT

Darren Bent would like West Ham United to win the Conference League final against Fiorentina on Wednesday evening.

David Moyes’ side are looking to go one better after losing the Europa League semi-final to Eintracht Frankfurt during the 2021/22 season.

Talking live on talkSPORT Drive, Bent would “love” the Hammers to get the job done in Prague.

“I want West Ham to win because I know they are no threat to Arsenal,” said Bent (talkSPORT, 7 June).

“If Manchester United are in Europe, I’d want them out.

“After the run last year when they got to the semi-final and faltered at the end and this season and a tough situation in the league, I just feel like it’s written in the stars for them to win.

“I’d love to see them win it.”

Historic

This could well be a historic night for West Ham. Their form in the Conference League has been immaculate throughout the season – it’s now up to the players to see the job out. It’s essential they don’t let the occasion get to them.

If they perform like they have been doing throughout the competition, then there’s absolutely no reason why they can’t go on to lift the trophy. Fiorentina will be a tough nut to crack. They have experienced players all over the pitch. West Ham have to be solid in the early stages and look to build their way into the game.

West Ham

We know this group of players are capable of a slow start and it’s something which has to be avoided on Wednesday evening. If the Hammers can see out the early exchanges unharmed, the likes of Declan Rice and Jarrod Bowen could become more influential.

Rice in particular will be looking to produce one of his trademark performances in what could be his last match in a claret and blue shirt.
