West Ham United could sign both Gianluca Scamacca and Armando Broja this summer

West Ham United have not ruled out the possibility of signing both of their striker targets this summer, according to the London Evening Standard.

West Ham have targeted Chelsea striker Armando Broja all summer, but links with Sassuolo star Gianluca Scamacca are more recent.

The London Evening Standard reported on Monday morning (18 July) that while a deal for Broja is close, Chelsea may only willing to sanction a loan for the Albanian.

According to the report, West Ham are open to a loan for Broja, but this could lead to them bringing in Scamacca on a permanent deal alongside him.

It was assumed that The Hammers would only sign one of the pair, but Chelsea digging their heels in over a Broja sale has changed the situation.

For the best

While it is frustrating that West Ham might have to miss out on a permanent deal for Broja right now, it might be for the best.

One striker would not be enough to solve the depth issue up front for The Irons, with Michail Antonio being their only recognised striker right now.

While it may be difficult to rotate all of Antonio, Broja and Scamacca, it is what they need to arrest their issues with depth.

The Hammers struggled with juggling Premier League football and a deep run in Europe last season as they had such a shallow squad.

With the Europa Conference League being an easier competition than the Europa League, they could be in for another strong showing in Europe.

David Moyes needs to prepare his side accordingly and having a trio of high-level strikers in their ranks would go a long way.

It also gives them flexibility over Broja as they will not have to commit to paying a large fee for Broja if he fails on loan.

If West Ham United can wrap up deals for both Broja and Scamacca, they could be in for another strong season for Moyes.

In other West Ham news, the club are reportedly considering an approach for Ben Brereton Diaz.
