West Ham United could sign Aaron Wan-Bissaka on loan in January after Manchester United give green light

Manchester United have informed West Ham target Aaron Wan-Bissaka that he is free to leave the club, according to the Manchester Evening News.

The Hammers have struggled at right-back this season, with Vladimir Coufal struggling for form and Ben Johnson and Thilo Kehrer both looking uncomfortable in the position when filling in.

With David Moyes needing to invest in the position sooner rather than later, it seems the Scotsman could turn to former club Manchester United.

West Ham

The Red Devils signed Wan-Bissaka from Crystal Palace for £50million back in 2019, but his lack of attacking threat has made him fall out of favour under new boss Erik ten Hag, who much prefers Portugal international Diogo Dalot.

As reported by Manchester Evening News, United informed Wan-Bissaka that he is free to leave the club ant West Ham are first in loan with a loan proposal in January.

The report also revealed that Wan-Bissaka has close ties to a number of Hammers stars through his agency: “West Ham have a close relationship with Wan-Bissaka’s representatives Unique Sports Management, which oversaw Maxwel Cornet’s transfer from Burnley in the summer. Michail Antonio and Aaron Cresswell are also both represented by the same agency.”

Get it done

With Coufal proving to be unreliable this season, a new right-back is definitely on the agenda and United’s decision to let Wan-Bissaka go lines up perfectly.

West Ham

The 25-year-old’s lack of attacking threat is made up for by his incredible defensive abilities which have seen him become one of the best one-on-one defenders in the league.

While that imbalance is what made United turn their nose up at him, it could work in West Ham’s favour. Jarrod Bowen is absolutely crucial to the Hammers attack, but the squad’s issues at right-back have meant he’s had to track back more than he’d probably like this season.

However, with Wan-Bissaka there, Bowen would be given more license to attack without worrying about what is behind him.

He’s only scored five goals this season compared to last season’s goal frenzy and with Gianluca Scamacca and Michail Antonio both struggling to find the net, they’ll need extra help from Bowen in the final third.

Signing Wan-Bissaka will give West Ham a new dynamic on the right which allows Bowen to pile on the pressure and Wan-Bissaka to constantly cover him wit his defensive abilities. It’s a great deal for the Hammers, whether it be on loan or permanently.
