West Ham United could have to ‘pay through the nose’ for a forward
West Ham United are keen to add a striker to their squad this summer but they might have to cough up a lot of money to do so.
According to Claret and Hugh, Hammers manager David Moyes is worried that they could be forced to “pay through the nose” if he wants to bring in a forward from the Premier League.
Chelsea’s Armando Broja is named as one player who the Irons are very interested in but they face competition from Southampton where the 20-year-old has burst onto the scene this season.

A move for Broja would cost £25million which is much less than others might cost which is why Moyes is keen on the Albanian after scoring nine goals for the Saints this season.
There is hope for the Hammers though that their European football will be able to tempt Broja away from the south coast and to remain in the capital instead.
Best bet
For the quality of player Moyes is chasing, you won’t find a player cheaper than this unless they are getting to 35 years of age or beyond.
For £25million, West Ham aren’t just buying Broja’s ability right now but they are also looking at what he could go onto achieve in his future and even if that ends up being away from the London Stadium, they would get a hefty fee for him when the time comes.

A striker is just the start of the club’s summer spending spree though with a central defender and a midfielder or two also on the radar so if Moyes can save some cash in any area then he would be wise to do so.
Broja’s name won’t be the only one on the list of targets and it would be foolish not to make initial contact with some others just in case this deal doesn’t get over the line but it would be preferable to sign the Albanian if we can.
In other West Ham news, one of Moyes’ defensive targets has already flown to London for talks with the Irons over a potential summer move.
