West Ham United could be forced to accept loss on Said Benrahma and Nikola Vlasic

West Ham are likely to offload both Nikola Vlasic and Said Benrahma in the summer transfer window, and the club may have to accept a big loss.

According to a report from The Guardian (8 June), David Moyes is open to selling Benrahma this summer.

The Hammers are also looking to offload Vlasic, as reported by The Mirror on 17 May.

Benrahma, who initially joined on loan, made his move permanent after West Ham paid £30m for his signature.

The Algerian has struggled to make a big impact at the club, and only managed to impress in flashes.

He looked to have returned to his best form last season, where he managed 11 goals and six assists in all competitions.

The Sun on 8 June reported that Moyes had sat down for a meeting with Benrahma before he made his final call. The Hammers boss has been left frustrated with the player’s lack of impact in big games.

Although West Ham are trying to recoup the money they spent for him, it is highly likely that they would struggle to get half the amount for him.

Benrahma has shown his quality at times, but inconsistency has been his biggest demon.

West Ham

Vlasic has been a huge disappointment for the club. It has been reported that the Hammers are trying to recuperate some of the £28m they spent on him less than one year ago for his move from CSKA Moscow.

The Croatian international signed a five-year deal towards the end of the 2021 summer transfer window, but his first season at the club has been a nightmare.

He has shown glimpses of his ability, but it seems Moyes is happy to let him go as well. Like Benrahma, the Hammers should be prepared to take a big loss on him, as not many clubs would be ready to take a gamble on him based on last season’s performance.

The Hammers need to free up the wages and space for new arrivals, and they could be forced to take a loss if the £58m (£30m + £28m) duo are allowed to depart.

In other West Ham news, a deal is on the cards to sign a forward who Moyes once compared to Wayne Rooney.
