West Ham United could accept offer near to £15m for Issa Diop

Fulham and Lyon are battling for West Ham defender Issa Diop who is open to leaving the club, as per ExWHUemployee.

The reliable Hammers source wrote on his Patreon on 7 July that the Hammers are hoping that the two clubs will drive up the value to as close as £20m.

The Cottagers have offered a fee of around £12m, but a figure near to £15m could be accepted.

There is internal one condition though. Ex suggests that it will only be accepted with a promise that cash will go to David Moyes to sign other players.

Diop is “very open” to the move, as he understands that he will struggle for game time next season.

Likely to leave

It seems that West Ham are yet to agree a deal, either with Fulham or Lyon but there is willingness from the club to reach a middle ground.

Diop has been at the club for the past four seasons, but he has struggled to nail down a regular starting place.

Last season, there was a window of opportunity for him to cement his position when Kurt Zouma and Angelo Ogbonna got injured.

While Craig Dawson excelled despite his age, the Frenchman hardly made an impact.

The Hammers have bolstered their defence by signing Nayef Aguerd this summer, and Diop would have further dropped down the pecking order.

A move to London rivals Fulham will see Diop staying in the Premier League. It seems, the Cottagers are more serious about landing him and they’re willing to pay a handsome fee for his signature.

It’s necessary for Moyes to reinvest the money in the squad, and bring in more players of his choice.
