West Ham United consider move to sack David Moyes and hire Steve Cooper amid Nottingham Forest development

West Ham are considering a move to hire Steve Cooper with Nottingham Forest facing a fight to keep hold of the 43-year-old, according to the Daily Mail.

Cooper has worked wonders in recent months and has emerged as a potential manager-of-the-season contender after turning Forest’s turnaround (Daily Mail, 3 March).

However, it’s understood a number of Premier League clubs have already identified the former Swansea boss as a managerial target. Leeds, West Ham, Chelsea, Tottenham and Brighton jobs could all become available at the end of the season, and it’s believed Cooper is under consideration.

West Ham

Impressive

Cooper’s achievements at Forest have been impressive. He took the job when they were floundering near the bottom of the Championship, now they are an accomplished Premier League club. In fact, up until last weekend, they had somewhat played themselves out of trouble.

The tight-knit race to beat the drop means their defeat against the Hammers has dragged Forest right back into the relegation equation – and Saturday’s fixture against Everton promises to be a decisive clash. The Toffees are back in the drop zone after consecutive losses and are in desperate need of a victory.

West Ham United

Last weekend’s win over Forest means David Moyes’ side have the opportunity to put some considerable distance between themselves and the bottom three when they travel to Brighton on Saturday (4 March). West Ham’s Premier League record against the Seagulls is woeful and there wouldn’t be a better time for that to change than this weekend.

If Moyes was relieved of his duties come the end of the season, Cooper would be a popular choice to replace the Scot.
