West Ham United confirmed XI v Chelsea: James Ward-Prowse starts

David Moyes has named his West Ham starting eleven to take on Chelsea in the Premier League at the London Stadium on Sunday, 20 August.

Pablo Fornals has made way with James Ward-Prowse making his debut for the Hammers after his move from Southampton while Edson Alvarez is on the bench.

Both sides drew their first game of the season and will be looking for the three points to climb up the table.

Frustrate them

The London Stadium is never an easy place to visit for Chelsea and the Hammers need to dig their heels in from the first minute.

They need to sit deep and allow the Blues to have all the possession they want before hitting them on the counter attack.

The likes of Jarrod Bowen will be devastating on the counter attack and it’s important that they make the most of having a player like him in the team.

It’ll be interesting to see how Alvarez and Ward-Prowse fare as they’re new signings and will need to fill in some pretty big shoes.

Chelsea looked impressive against Liverpool but had moments of frailties there so if Moyes’ side can take advantage, things could turn in their favour.

In other West Ham news, the club have now opened advanced talks with a Premier League player who appears to be open on leaving his side this summer.
