West Ham United confirm starting XI for clash v AEK Larnaca in Europa Conference League
West Ham have confirmed their starting line-up for their UEFA Europa Conference League clash against AEK Larnaca in Cyprus on Thursday 9 March.
David Moyes has decided to make seven changes to the Hammers side that lost to Brighton last weekend, with Michail Antonio, Kurt Zouma, Aaron Cresswell, Manuel Lanzini, Pablo Fornals, Flynn Downes and Tihlo Kehrer returning after being left out at the AMEX Stadium.
As confirmed on Twitter prior to kick-off (9 March), Moyes made the big decision to axe both Jarrod Bowen and Lucas Paqueta from the starting XI.
Massive.
As is every game for Moyes at the moment, the UEFA Europa Conference League clash against AEK Larnaca is massive for his future at the club.
The Hammers are unbeaten in the competition so far this season and their European outings have been somewhat of a bright note in an otherwise woeful campaign.
West Ham are obviously the favourites heading into this one and a loss in sunny Cyprus would only add to the huge amount of pressure Moyes is facing right now.
The 4-0 drubbing to Brighton was a clear sign of where the club are currently at and many fans want to see the Scot ousted from his position immediately.
And they have every right to hold that opinion, the Hammers simply haven’t been good enough this season and Moyes’ stale and weak tactics haven’t helped matters whatsoever.
A European run would be a nice way to save this disastrous season, it may be the last chance fans get some lovely little away days for a while.
