West Ham United concede Declan Rice exit will happen in 2023, record transfer on cards
West Ham United have conceded that Declan Rice will leave the club in 2023 with a record transfer on the cards for the club, according to The Athletic.
Rice’s departure from West Ham United seems more like when rather than if now and the Hammers will have to start exploring options to replace him.
Nevertheless, The Athletic confessed that Rice will under no circumstances be sold in January but when a deal does take place they expect Rice to become the most expensive British player in history.

“Under no circumstances will Rice be sold in January but the club have conceded internally they will have to sell him this summer,” as quoted by The Athletic.
“If a club meets West Ham’s valuation, that would make Rice the most expensive British footballer in history. It is important to stress there is no release clause in Rice’s contract.”

Take the money and run.
A British record transfer fee for a defensive midfielder? The Hammers should take this money and run, Rice is a great player but considering his lack of goal contributions this is a great deal for all parties involved.
Yes, Rice is a terrific asset to have and has been the Hammers best player for numerous seasons now, but think of the talents that could be brought in with the money received from Rice.
It’s a game-changing amount of cash and an influx that will profit the Irons first team massively if spent wisely and on suitable targets.
Sofyan Amrabat perhaps? The Morrocan maestro seems a like-for-like replacement for Rice and would be available for relatively cheap.
Maybe even Manchester City’s out of favour midfielder Kalvin Phillips? The Irons were linked with making a move for him before he made the switch to the Etihad, although, this transfer dream may be a slight stretch.
