West Ham United completed Flynn Downes signing after he did media for Crystal Palace – ExWHUemployee
West Ham completed the signing of Flynn Downes after he had done media photos and interviews with Crystal Palace, according to ExWHUemployee.
The Hammers were looking to strengthen their midfield but were struggling to identify the correct deals to do, before they hijacked a deal for Downes and paid Swansea £12m to get the deal done.
The Athletic reported after the transfer window closed that an unnamed player has undergone social media interviews and media pictures before signing before the deal collapsed, and ExWHUemployee told the West Ham Way that that was in fact Downes to West Ham.
“This was Crystal Palace with Flynn Downes,” they said.
“ExWHUemployee had photos from the media announcement. Also proves how quickly that particular transfer was completed in.
“Downes himself has said he only knew of it the evening before he signed.”
Crazy
West Ham and David Moyes have regularly been accused of dithering in the transfer market but this summer they really proved that if they want to get a deal done they can.
They broke the club record to sign Lucas Paqueta, spent big on Gianluca Scamacca to beat off competition from Paris Saint-Germain and stole Downes from the jaws of Crystal Palace too.

The speed of the deal was eye catching at the time, with interest breaking around 24 hours before the deal was officially confirmed but it wasn’t known just how close he was to going elsewhere.
As a fan of the club there was always a chance that happened and he deserves credit for having the courage to change his mind at such a late stage.
The club also deserve a lot of credit for being able to strike a deal and get it over the line so quickly and after him being on the verge of going to a rival, and now their squad is stronger for it.
