Report: West Ham close to agreeing £1.2m January deal for defender

West Ham United are closing in on the signature of Silkeborg IF defender Frederik Alves Ibsen, according to Bold.

The Danish outlet claim that the Irons are not set to complete the deal until the January window, with Ibsen set to follow Craig Dawson and Vladimir Coufal into the club.

David Moyes has been determined to bring in defensive reinforcements during this window, and he looks set to confirm his third deal.

Bold have reported on their website that the Irons will spend around £1.2million for the 20-year-old as they close in on the move.

Silkeborg have claimed that the deal isn’t complete yet and that the move is depending on some certain reservations that aren’t set to hamper the talks.

Ibsen has a contract in Denmark until 2024 and has been stuck in negotiations with the Hammers over the weekend.

Brexit is said to be complicating the potential deal, although he is still expected to complete the move with no problems.

The 21-year-old can play either side in central defence, something which will please Moyes after his switch to three-at-the-back recently.

Hammers fans will be hoping that this deal does not end up in the same way as the last promising defender to arrive at the London Stadium.

Goncalo Cardoso arrived with big hype surrounding his name, and that hasn’t materialised as of yet, with the Portuguese defender struggling to escape the academy.

Time will tell, but Alves Ibsen will need to hit the ground running to catch the eye of Moyes in training come this time in January.
