West Ham United: Chris Sutton predicts Premier League showdown v Everton

Chris Sutton has backed Everton to take all three points when West Ham travel to Goodison Park on 2 February despite the form of Jarrod Bowen and Lucas Paqueta.

The former Chelsea striker was full of praise for Bowen after his hattrick against Brentford but admitted he does not expect him to repeat his heroics this time out.

Sutton went on to say that, despite Moyes having won at Goodison previously with the Hammers in 2021, he expects them to leave with no points gained this time.

Writing in his BBC Sport Premier League predictions, Sutton shared: “West Ham have had some good news too, with Lucas Paqueta back from injury after six games out, and he made an immediate impact against Brentford.

“Jarrod Bowen was on fire in that game too, with a hattrick, but I am not expecting more of the same from him or his team.

“I keep backing Everton at home, and getting it wrong, but I fancy them here. Their former boss David Moyes has won at Goodison with West Ham once before, in 2021, but I have a feeling he will leave empty-handed this time.”

Everton v West Ham could be a difficult clash

Sean Dyche’s side will be on a high following the news that their ten-point deduction had been reduced to just six, and heading into a home clash against an out-of-form West Ham side should give them an extra boost of confidence.

Failure to take any points away from Goodison Park would likely see the pressure on David Moyes’ job ramp up again, with the win against Brentford last time out providing some brief respite for the under-fire gaffer.

Bowen’s form was rightly praised by Sutton but given Everton’s defensive record it may be difficult for him to score another hattrick, although he remains the most dangerous player in the Hammers’ side.

David Moyes will be hoping Jarrod Bowen is back fit and firing for their second leg against Leverkusen.

Paqueta, who was also singled out, could hold the keys to unlocking the defence, but both he and Bowen will have to be at the top of their game if they want to take all three points away from a buoyant Goodison Park.
