West Ham United: Chris Sutton fires jibe at ‘moany’ fans in new David Moyes sack verdict

West Ham United supporters need to “get off” David Moyes’ back and back their manager following the Hammers’ win over Everton, according to Chris Sutton.

The Scotsman made it back-to-back wins in the Premier League as the Hammers claimed all three points with a 3-1 win at Goodison Park on Saturday (2 March) thanks to stoppage-time goals from Tomas Soucek and Kurt Zouma.

Moyes has come under increased pressure from the West Ham fanbase in recent weeks, but Sutton has fired a fresh jibe at supporters as he believes the 60-year-old is doing a “brilliant job” at the London Stadium.

Speaking on BBC Radio Five Live on Saturday (2 March, 2:20) he said: “From West Ham’s perspective, we have a lot of moany-faced West Ham fans on the show wanting David Moyes out.

“His team have scored seven goals this week! Get off his back, he’s doing a brilliant job.”

Will David Moyes be sacked by West Ham or sign a new contract at the London Stadium?

Only a matter of days ago it felt like Moyes was on borrowed time at the London Stadium as the Hammers were still waiting for their first win of 2024 having been thrashed by Arsenal and well beaten by Nottingham Forest.

But wins over Brentford and now Everton have restored some confidence in East London and after a difficult spell, it seems as though the Irons and Moyes have once again found their feet in the Premier League.

David Moyes has had a mixed season at West Ham

The Scotsman has said that he has been offered a new contract to extend his tenure with West Ham beyond the end of the season, but he has insisted that he won’t make a decision over his long-term future until the end of the campaign.

Should he keep picking up these sorts of results, most supporters won’t mind him signing on the dotted line, especially if his side continues to produce more attacking performances that have been enjoyable to watch recently.
