West Ham United chief Rob Newman scouts Alex Scott during Bristol City v Manchester City clash
West Ham reportedly scouted Newcastle and Tottenham Hotspur target Alex Scott during the Bristol City v Manchester City clash on 28 February.
According to the Daily Mail [1 March], Head of Recruitment Rob Newman was in attendance for the FA Cup clash which the Premier League side won 3-0.
After the game, the 19-year-old midfielder who has been likened to David Beckham, was also praised by Pep Guardiola.

It’s understood that Bristol are willing to let go of him in the summer but are valuing him at £25million.
Too expensive
The Hammers aren’t in a position to take gambles on players that are unproven in one of Europe’s top five leagues for that kind of money.
Declan Rice is leaving and he’s going to be needed to be replaced properly and while Scott is showing promise, he may not be ready for regular first-team football.

It makes more sense to go for the tried and tested options and that is what we expect them to do.
However, if Newman has been particularly impressed by Scott, then West Ham could touch base with Bristol and commence negotiations for the English midfielder.
Currently, it feels like Bristol are having a bit of fun with Scott’s valuation as he was available for £20million just a couple of weeks ago.
Given the growing interest in his services, it feels like they’re doing everything they can to spark a bidding war and West Ham may decide not to compete in it.
