West Ham United: Chelsea handed Wesley Fofana injury boost ahead of Premier League clash

Chelsea have been handed a “key injury boost” with Wesley Fofana potentially returning to action for the Premier League clash against West Ham United, according to the Evening Standard.

Whether or not the French defender will be in for a start against the Hammers remains to be seen, but it seems he’ll be in the squad after being pictured in training this week.

West Ham United face two Premier League fixtures against London rivals this month with Chelsea next and then a trip to face Antonio Conte’s Spurs.

“Chelsea have been handed a key injury boost after Wesley Fofana returned to full team training this week,” as quoted by the Evening Standard. (7 February)

“Chelsea will hope that Fofana could be available for a return to competitive action as soon as Saturday, when they face another Premier League capital derby clash against West Ham at the London Stadium.”

West Ham

Own stars.

Yes Chelsea have an array of stars to choose from in their squad at the moment and Fofana’s return from injury will certainly be a boost to them, but the Hammers have a star defender of their own emerging.

Nayef Aguerd was sublime against Newcastle United and is starting to show that he has what it takes to be one of the best defenders in the Premier League.

Injuries plagued the start of his Hammers career and this frustratingly took it’s toll of fans views of Aguerd, with many claiming if he was actually any good.

Nevertheless, the doubters have slowly been turned into belivers and Aguerd is starting to look every inch the top talent who was signed from Stade Rennais.

His recovery sprint tackle on Callum Wilson who ran clear on goal showcased everything the Morrocan is about and it’s this kind of form that will catapult West Ham up the league table.
