West Ham United can sign Manchester City midfielder Kalvin Phillips on loan, Newcastle also keen

West Ham and Newcastle target Kalvin Phillips will reportedly be allowed to leave Manchester City at the end of the season.

According to 90 Min [27 March], the Citizens are open to a loan deal for next season with a view to a permanent sale after that.

Apart from the two clubs, the likes of Leeds United, Leicester and Wolves are also keen on signing the 27-year-old who represented England at the World Cup recently.

Include in Rice deal?

If City do sell Phillips, they will be looking for another central midfield and Rice is going to be on the market.

West Ham are resigned to losing him either way and might as well get someone who can replace him.

It’s not that Phillips is as good as the 23-year-old but he can perform that anchor man role and he has played a box-to-box role previously so he’s got that progressive ability in his arsenal too.

West Ham

He’s been on the Hammers’ radar for some time so it would make sense that they look at him as a potential Rice replacement.

Beating Newcastle to his services will be a challenge as they’re going to be able to offer European football by the looks of it and could match his wage demands too.

He would rather move to St. James’ Park instead of a club that has been battling relegation this season.
