West Ham United can force Premier League achievement for first time ever
West Ham could now be on course to force a Premier League achievement for the first time ever, according to the Daily Mail.
The newspaper reported on page 72 of its print edition on Friday (29 March) that the sixth-placed team in the top flight will qualify for the Champions League next season if the Hammers finish fifth and win the Europa League.
It said that is due to the Premier League being on course to receive a fifth spot due to its clubs’ performances in Europe this season, meaning that a place would be passed down to the sixth-placed side if the Irons qualify for the competition after recording another European success.
Could West Ham win the Europa League?
It would be a huge bonus for the Premier League if up to six teams were to be competing in the Champions League next season, bringing even more attention to the league.
While there is a long way to go before West Ham could be in a position to make that happen, it’s certainly not out of the question.
Although claiming European glory is something they have already proven themselves capable of achieving, finishing fifth is where the issue may lie.

The Hammers currently find themselves nine points behind fifth-placed Tottenham, who have a game in hand, and it seems incredibly unlikely that they would be able to haul back that gap.
But it’s something to aim for, alongside trying to go deep in Europe again, with David Moyes’s side facing some huge games over the next few weeks.
