West Ham United boss David Moyes provides huge update on summer signing Nayef Aguerd

West Ham United boss David Moyes has provided a huge injury update on summer signing Nayef Aguerd claiming the defender has started training again.

Aguerd joined the Hammers this summer but has failed to make a competitive appearance for the Irons after picking up an injury in pre-season.

Moyes admitted it was “really good news” that Aguerd had returned to training and expects the defender to be a key player for West Ham United moving forward.

“It’s really good news that Nayef is on his way back because we bought him in as a key player for us,” Moyes said as quoted by BBC Sport.

“He’s started training, not fully integrated yet, but is getting closer to playing. I think he’ll definitely feature before the World Cup.”

Perfect timing.

Considering West Ham’s current centre-back injury crisis the return of the Morocco international couldn’t have come at a better time.

This is great news for everyone involved at the club and hopefully, Aguerd can hit the ground running for the Hammers moving forward.

With the defender now confirmed to be back in training, he may be able to be part of the matchday squad for the jam-packed fixture schedule in the coming weeks.

The left-footed centre-back has the potential to be phenomenal for the Irons and his return will allow Kurt Zouma to move back to his natural right centre-back position.

The Moroccan fits the bill for the possession-based defender Moyes craves and his ability to pass the ball out from the back with ease will help the Hammers massively.

He’s an extremely solid talent and it’s going to be great to see how he fares in the English top flight, he has to perfect attributes to flourish in it.
