West Ham United boss David Moyes says he’s been impressed with Gianluca Scamacca since day one

West Ham United boss David Moyes says he’s been impressed with summer signing Gianluca Scamacca since the first day he signed for the club.

Scamacca has found himself in a rich vein of scoring form in recent weeks and seems to be the Hammers’ new go-to striker to bag goals.

Moyes confessed that he had been impressed with the Italy international “since day one”, interesting considering his apparent unwillingness to start the forward in the opening weeks of the campaign.

“Impressed with him since day one,” said Moyes as quoted by the Times.

“It’s taken us a bit of time just to get him going — and it’s going to take a lot longer for us to see the real best of him. But the version we’ve got of him at the moment is doing really well. We like him.”

Finally.

It seems Moyes is finally warming to the idea of Scamacca being his go-to striker ahead of Michail Antonio.

Despite dropping him for early season fixtures, it seems West Ham United wanted the Italian to settle into life in England before making him a regular starter for the Hammers.

This is completely fair enough and understandable, it’s a tough and competitive league to hit the ground running in, although Scamacca has certainly found his form now.

He’s running off a rich boost of confidence and it’s been a joy to witness, the Italian looks like a constant threat moving forward and his blossoming partnership with Lucas Paqueta is thriving.

It seems to be the start of something special between West Ham and Scamacca and long may it continue, the early season shouts for Moyes to be sacked have become a distant memory.

This is a testament to the forwards frightening form and goals that have guided West Ham to victory, no wonder Moyes has been seriously impressed by him.
