Marcelo Bielsa in running for West Ham United job if David Moyes is sacked

Marcelo Bielsa has been named as one of three managers that would be in contention to take over from David Moyes should he be sacked by West Ham United, according to Mail Plus.

The report also claims that Moyes will be backed by West Ham United to turn things around and much depends on his next three results against Leeds, Wolves and Everton.

Mail Plus confessed that alongside Bielsa, Mauricio Pochettino and former Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel are possibly being considered for the role.

“Speaking to senior club sources yesterday, they said they’re backing Moyes to turn things around. It may be that Moyes loses his job if West Ham cannot win against Leeds, Wolves and Everton in their next three games,” as quoted by Mail Plus.

“If so, the club will target someone high profile, such as Marcelo Bielsa, Mauricio Pochettino or Thomas Tuchel, all of whom are out of work.”

What’s the point in waiting for three games to delay the inevitable? West Ham United are sleepwalking into a relegation fight under the guidance of Moyes right now.

And losing three games or points against teams who are in the same position could prove to be costly come to the end of the campaign.

Nevertheless, the likes of Bielsa, Pochettino and Tuchel are the exact kinds of names you want to hear being linked with West Ham United.

All would bring their own philosophy to the London Stadium, each of which is a more exciting and modern package than what Moyes provides.

It does feel a bit harsh to call for Moyes to be ousted, overall he has done a fantastic job with the Hammers but in the cruel, modern game, change is sometimes vital.

This story will likely progress over the coming weeks and it will be interesting to see if the links to any of the managers listed above become more concrete.
