BBC pundit Martin Keown gushes over West Ham United ace Nayef Aguerd
BBC pundit Martin Keown gushed over West Ham United defender Nayef Aguerd, lauding the ace as a “revelation” in David Moyes’ team.
Aguerd has been a standout performer in the Hammers set-up in recent weeks and was particularly impressive against Newcastle United at St. James’ Park.
Keown confessed that Aguerd alongside Emerson has helped restore some confidence and ease some pressure on manager Moyes ahead of the game with Chelsea.

“He’s decided that a 3-4-2-1 set-up is the best way to give West Ham balance. This includes a completely new-look left-hand side to the defence with Nayef Aguerd starting on the left of a back three and Emerson Palmieri at left wing-back,” said Keown in his collum for the Daily Mail. (10 February)
“Aguerd has been a revelation — he’s quick, mobile and comfortable in possession. He and Emerson have started the last three games together and this system is helping restore confidence to the team and ease some of the pressure on the manager.”

Ironing out issues.
Aguerd has certainly ironed out some issues within the West Ham United defence since returning from his injury and looks every inch a top talent.
The Morrocan had a three-month layoff at the start of the campaign but is slowly becoming a key cog within Moyes’ defence.
Since the turn of the year, Aguerd has lined up the most with Angelo Ogbonna, making five appearances alongside the Hammer veteran defender.
And Aguerd may even be in with a shout of becoming a future West Ham United captain if Declan Rice chooses to leave the London Stadium this summer.
EXWHUEmployee reckons Aguerd would be a great shout to replace Rice as captain of the club, claiming the silky defender is the “whole package”.
This is a bold statement to make but one that isn’t completely out of the realm of possibility, especially after seeing the defenders’ heroics in the FIFA World Cup for Morroco.
