West Ham United attempt to reach agreement with Harrison Ashby agent amid Leeds United and Newcastle interest

West Ham are reportedly looking to retain the services of Harrison Ashby amid interest from Leeds United, Newcastle and Celtic.

According to Six Foot Two, the 20-year-old’s agents Wasserman had David Moyes’ son as a client and they could look to leverage that relationship and get Ashby to pen an extension.

As his deal expires in the summer, not signing a new deal could see the London club being forced to listen to offers for him in January with Preston North End also in the mix.

West Ham United

Keep him

The 20-year-old represents everything that’s good about the club’s academy and he must be kept if his demands fit within the wage structure.

He is likely to be a first-team Premier League defender in the coming years and the West Ham hierarchy surely would want him to play his football at the London Stadium.

He has shown tremendous maturity over the past few months and has become a first-team player who’s always there training with the senior squad.

Moyes has praised him in the past and it’s pretty clear from these reports that he wants the youngster to commit his future to the club as well.

However, it’s important that the Hammers do not repeat the same mistakes that they did with Reece Oxford as that deal saw him earning way too much money.

Thus far, we’re unware if any of the aforementioned clubs are looking to step up their interest and it will be interesting to see whether the club can keep him beyond January.
