West Ham United asked to pay double to sign Flamengo starlet Lazaro

West Ham United will need to pay twice what they originally offered if they want to sign Lazaro from Flamengo, according to Ge Globo.

The Irons had submitted a bid in the region of £5million to the Brazilian top division side but they turned the offer down as the transfer window nears its closing time.

The 20-year-old has established himself in the Flamengo squad over the past two seasons and now has more than 50 appearances under his belt with eight goals scored in the process.

And understandably, the Brazilian side are keen to keep hold of one of their best players but the pressure coming from West Ham may force them into a sale but not before they ask for as much money as possible.

Flamengo want double the £5million originally bid from the Irons which would make it a £10million purchase without the additional clauses that may enter the deal as well.

Huge leap

£10million is a huge amount of money for the Hammers to spend on a player with no experience in European football or outstanding figures in Brazilian football.

The London Stadium scouts must have extensively watched Lazaro over the course of the 2022 season to identify him as someone who would come in and feature in the Premier League.

West Ham

There is no other reason why the club would spend a whole £10million on a player because nobody plays that much money for a player to feature for the Under-21s side.

Perhaps they are looking at his statistics for the Brazil Under-17s where he bagged eight goals in five caps but that was some time ago now and he has not continued to feature for the youth sides of his national side.

Gianluca Scamacca has already come in to be the man to save the world at West Ham and there is little to suggest that Lazaro can do any better should he sign for the Irons.
