West Ham United: Arsenal make ‘major breakthrough’ in Declan Rice pursuit, £100m+ deal expected to be completed

Arsenal have made a “major breakthrough” in their bid to sign West Ham United captain Declan Rice, according to 90min.

It’s believed the Gunners have now pushed ahead and told West Ham that they will pay more than £100million to take Rice to The Emirates (90min, 13 June).

An official offer is yet to be made, but Arsenal are now expected to finalise a deal for the 24-year-old, who is eager to make the move across the capital.

Looking likely

It feels like it’s only a matter of time before Rice’s move to Arsenal is eventually finalised. The midfielder has long been on Mikel Arteta’s radar and a Champions League move feels like the correct next step.

He won’t be guaranteed trophies at The Emirates, but he will join an exciting project that certainly has the potential to reach the elite level.

It will be tough seeing Rice in another team’s jersey, but we all know that now is the right time for West Ham’s dynamic captain to move on.

Whether that is the best move is certainly up for debate. However, one thing that cannot be argued is that the 24-year-old has to be playing Champions League football.

Manchester City would guarantee Rice trophies and success, however, at present, the Premier League Champions don’t seem to be showing too much interest.

A quick resolution will be the best outcome for all concerned when it comes to the 24-year-old’s next move.
