West Ham United are in pole position to sign Arsenal forward Eddie Nketiah this summer – report

West Ham United are now in pole position to sign Arsenal forward Eddie Nketiah in the upcoming summer, according to the Daily Mail.

The newspaper have reported on their website that the Gunners have held two rounds of talks with the striker, who is still set to leave as a free agent once the season ends.

David Moyes is said to be desperate to add more goals to his squad, and is ready to pounce should Arsenal fail to get Nkeitah to sign on the dotted line of a new deal.

West Ham are also said to have Aston Villa man Ollie Watkins on their shortlist, as they finally look to replace Sebastien Haller after he left more than a year ago.

A number of clubs are on red alert for Nketiah though given his contractual status, but it is the Hammers who are leading that queue as things stand.

The representatives of the 22-year-old have already held two rounds of talks, and have booked in another meeting with Arsenal as they look desperate to keep him around.

Finally.

This is what we have been crying out for, for the past year and more.

Michail Antonio has simply been run into the ground by having no direct competition or replacement, leading to no rest whatsoever and his form dropping off the face of a cliff.

Nketiah would be the perfect addition to the squad and will be one of the best free agents around if he was to decide not to sign an extension at Arsenal.

Mikel Arteta is trying his best to change that though, with the England youth international now starting regularly and also scoring with ease – grabbing two against Leeds on Sunday [08 May].

Squad depth has been our real issue and the fact that GSB wouldn’t need to spend any money to get Nketiah on board, we can imagine they are thrilled by that news and would back the move.

It’s time to start laying the groundwork down for this one.
