West Ham United and Tottenham want to sign Serhou Guirassy as transfer news drops
West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur are both interested in signing Stuttgart striker Serhou Guirassy, according to Dean Jones.
The journalist reported via Team Talk on Tuesday (3 October) that the Hammers and Spurs are two of a number of Premier League clubs monitoring the forward after his early season form has seen him score 10 Bundesliga goals in only six matches.
Having only joined the ranks of the German club permanently this year, the 27-year-old has attracted a lot of potential suitors already with Jones reporting that Guiniea striker has a £17.3 million release clause in his current contract, with scouting expected to be stepped up.
Discussing the Premier League clubs’ interest, Jones wrote: “A host of Premier League clubs including Tottenham and West Ham have taken an interest in a Stuttgart striker who is currently outscoring Harry Kane in the Bundesliga.
“Brighton were one of the first clubs to be offered the chance to sign the Guinea international a couple of years back but more recently the likes of Fulham and West Ham have been showing interest. Both of those clubs are looking to add a striker in the January window.”
Potential
Before a ball had been kicked this season, most supporters felt as though West Ham United were short of options going forward, with Danny Ings and Michail Antonio the only recognised out-and-out forwards among David Moyes’ ranks.
So far, that hasn’t proven to be an issue at the London Stadium with Jarrod Bowen providing the gaols to ensure that the Irons are once again competing for the European places in the Premier League, with the former Hull City man already finding the net five times this season.
That form is unlikely to last forever however and Moyes may well feel that he needs to add to his ranks when the January transfer window rolls around and given Guirassy’s incredible start to the season, the Scottish manager may well have already found his man.
Given his ability in the air, strength and close control that Jones has cited as some of his best characteristics, the 27-year-old could represent a good replacement or at least rotation option for Michael Antonio and for a relatively small release clause the Hammers have to try and pip Tottenham to his signature.
