West Ham United among ‘most exciting’ Premier League teams despite David Moyes ‘question marks’
West Ham United now have one of the “most exciting” teams in the Premier League, according to journalist Alex Keble.
The verdict comes after the Hammers brought in the likes of James Ward-Prowse and Edson Alvarez in the summer transfer window.
Key to the excitement, Keble added, was managing to keep hold of Brazilian star Lucas Paqueta, who “almost agreed” an £80million move to Manchester City [Sky Sports, 21 August].

“Ward-Prowse doesn’t replace Declan Rice’s ball carrying or commanding presence at the base of midfield, but his set-piece delivery has already been put to good use under Moyes,” Keble wrote for the official Premier League website (5 September).
“Alvarez is a special player and, along with his Ajax team-mate Mohammed Kudus, has lifted West Ham considerably. There are question marks over whether Moyes will want to play the more progressive style of football Alvarez and Kudus are used to, but either way they are coups for West Ham.
“Having also managed to hold on to Lucas Paqueta, West Ham now have one of the most exciting teams in the Premier League.”

Super summer
The summer transfer window was a roller-coaster for West Ham fans, who were in high spirits following the club’s unforgettable Europa Conference League victory.
Not long after, however, they saw club captain and star midfielder Declan Rice join London rivals Arsenal. The only silver lining from that exit was the £105million fee they got for the England international which, after some time, was put to use on new signings.
Midfield maestro Ward-Prowse has been a superb recruit, with the former Southampton man stealing the show in terms of the club’s new players.
However, former Ajax duo Alvarez and Kudus will have hugely important roles to play on the pitch over the coming months.
And after missing out on Manchester United man Harry Maguire, Moyes did manage to strengthen his defence in the form of Greek international Konstantinos Mavropanos, who again will have a big role to play in all competitions this season.
In other West Ham news, a rival bid is now on the cards for the Hammers to miss out on a freebie signing.
