West Ham United: Amadou Onana agent looking to force Lille exit

Amadou Onana’s agent is looking to force an exit for the 20-year-old Lille midfielder after West Ham United had a second bid of £25million rejected for the Belgium international according to HLN.

The Belgium newspaper revealed on Tuesday 12 July that Lille chairman Olivier Letang won’t consider a transfer unless a bid of over £34million comes in for Onana.

It was reported by Sky Sports journalist Dharmesh Sheth (via Twitter) on Monday 11 July that the Hammers have had a second bid of £25million turned down for the 20-year-old.

HLN also suggested that Onana’s agent “continues to look” to clubs as he looks to instigate an exit for Onana.

Pay up

West Ham should surely be looking to pay the reported £34million for Onana.

Considering they have already submitted a bid of £25million, it appears that David Moyes is clearly keen on the midfielder as he looks to add some depth to his squad.

Onana would complete the Hammers midfield, with Declan Rice, Tomas Soucek and new arrival Flynn Downes vying for two midfield slots.

A player of Onana’s age and potential is exactly the calibre of player Moyes needs to be targeting.

He could be developed and then sold on for a larger transfer fee in the years to come.

If the Hammers signed Onana for £34million, there is a very strong chance that his value would only increase during his time at the London Stadium.

This is a move that the Hammers should shy away from after their rejected bids.

Moyes needs to kick on from his early summer business which has seen Nayef Aguerd, Alphonse Areola and Downes all join the Hammers.
