West Ham United: Alan Pardew tells David Moyes to join ‘bigger club’ amid sack talk live on talkSPORT

Alan Pardew has told David Moyes he should walk away from West Ham in search of a job with a bigger club amid rumours surrounding his future at the London Stadium.

The former Hammers boss insisted that, if he was in Moyes’ position, he wouldn’t be concerned and would simply wait until the end of the season and see what happens.

He went on to share that both Moyes and the club will want to get to the end of the season and then make the call, after tipping the Hammers to win the Europa League.

Speaking live on talkSPORT [14 March, 08:44], Pardew shared: “When you talk about West Ham fans, it’s the approach to the game, the tactical approach.

“Results-wise, you can’t put him under pressure because he’s seventh in the league. For West Ham, if you’re seventh in the league, you’re at the top of your league.

“If I was David Moyes, mentally, I wouldn’t even worry about it. If I won another European trophy I might go and walk away to a better or bigger club. David Moyes could do that, he’s got the CV to do that.

“I think it’ll be a case of just get to the end of the year and then look at it. I think that’s where the board are and I think that’s, more importantly, where David is.”

Could David Moyes leave West Ham this summer?

Pressure on Moyes’ job has been almost constant at West Ham since the Christmas period, and the fans have shown their discontent with the style of play under the boss.

After a 6-0 Premier League defeat to Arsenal, the West Ham board decided to delay any potential contract negotiations with Moyes amid pressure from the fans who are unhappy with results and with the style of play.

It has also been said that some players in the West Ham dressing room have grown frustrated with the manager, adding yet more fuel to the fire. [The Guardian, 19 February]

Results have been mixed in recent weeks as two straight Premier League wins against Brentford and Everton were followed by a Europa League defeat to Freiburg and a disappointing 2-2 draw with struggling Burnley at the London Stadium.

David Moyes has found himself under increasing pressure at West Ham United.

While results are not the be-all and end-all when it comes to Moyes’ future, as Pardew explained, the inconsistencies the Hammers have faced recently will likely play a part in any decision – particularly if they fail to progress in Europe.
