West Ham United: Alan Brazil and Ray Parlour share David Moyes verdict live on talkSPORT
Ray Parlour was stunned as he learned Bayer Leverkusen had 33 shots against West Ham in their 2-0 Europa League defeat on Thursday night, while Alan Brazil refused to criticise David Moyes.
Leverkusen’s dominance in Germany was made clear by those shots, with 13 of them being on target compared to just one of each from West Ham, while the Hammers also had just 27 per cent possession.
Brazil explained that he would not hammer Moyes as they have had a good season so far in the league and the Leverkusen clash was always going to be difficult.
Parlour was stunned live on talkSPORT [12 April, 06:14] as he fumed: “33 shots. That’s unbelievable, isn’t it? 13 on target, that’s the most important stat.”
Brazil then shared his view: “There was no one up front, Jarrod Bowen never played, so at home they’ll definitely have more of a threat, but you fancy the Germans to score in London.
“I’m not going to hammer David Moyes here, I look at the table and before last night West Ham were having a really good season. It was never going to be easy in Germany.”
David Moyes pressure ramps up yet again after Leverkusen loss
Jamie Carragher recently insisted Moyes could decide to leave the club to protect his own reputation if he can guide the Hammers to a strong Europa League finish and finish seventh or eighth in the Premier League.
Carragher’s comments came shortly after Sky Sports journalist Dharmesh Sheth insisted that Moyes will make the final decision about whether he stays or leaves in the summer, as he suggested that a Europa League challenge could push him to stay.
Pressure on the manager is likely to ramp up again in the wake of a frustrating result in Europe as the Hammers reverted to their deep block and looked to counter with no joy, conceding two late goals in frustrating circumstances.

Brazil’s verdict that he would not criticise Moyes after a strong season has been a continuing issue for Hammers fans as the performances are more the issue than the results, displayed yet again by their lack of threat against Leverkusen.
