West Ham United agree deal in principle to sign Lucas Paqueta

West Ham have agreed “deal in principle” to sign Lyon midfielder Lucas Paqueta, as reported by David Ornstein.

Writing for The Atheltic on 26 August, the reliable journalist wrote that the player has agreed to sign a five-year contract with the Hammers.

The deal now hinges on official club-to-club documents left to be finalised.

Brilliant

The Hammers have been desperately looking to sign a midfielder this summer, and it seems they are now close to securing a deal for the midfielder.

Lyon have rejected two bids already, and the two clubs must now reach an agreement to find an agreement.

West Ham were working on a deal to sign the Brazilian, and they had submitted a bid in the region of £33m.

The midfielder joined the French side from AC Milan in 2020. He has made 67 Ligue 1 appearances for the French club, scoring 18 goals.

It has been a busy summer transfer window for the club, and he will become their eighth major signing of the summer if they manage to secure his signature.

David Moyes has made some big-money signings including Nayef Aguerd and Gianluca Scamacca. However, Paqueta would be a terrific addition to the club, one who could help them break into the top four.

The Hammers have made a poor start to the season, and they have lost three league games already.
