West Ham United: Agent fees will be high should Jesse Lingard move to London Stadium
West Ham United’s move for Jesse Lingard will likely involve extortionate agent’s fees as the 29-year-old decides his future according to The Daily Mail’s Tom Collomosse.
The Guadian revealed (20 July) that Nottingham Forest are in advanced talks with the free agent after his Manchester United departure.
West Ham are still in the race according to Sky Sports journalist Florian Plettenberg (20 July) but won’t break their wage structure for the free agent.
Collomosse has suggested on Wednesday 20 July that as well as a substantial salary package for Lingard, there will also be large agents’ fees involved.
Greed
Agents’ fees, extortionate wage demands and the thought of £200,000-a-week really does display a sad reality of the modern game at present.
Lingard is clearly more focused on money than his legacy as a footballer at this point.
If Lingard does make the big money move to The City Ground then he will be remembered as a player who was only ever interested in the financial aspects of the game.
A move to West Ham would’ve displayed that Lingard was interested in making an impact at the right end of the Premier League in the coming years.

Forest’s first goal will be to stay in the Premier League.
West Ham are looking to break into Europe again next season and really push on from their seventh-placed finish in the 2022/23 season.
Lingard was loved at the London Stadium and could’ve gone down as a club favourite in years to come.
Even if the 29-year-old decided to move to the Hammers now the majority of fans, as well as David Moyes and the club hierarchy, would be frustrated with his antics.
Moyes should simply look elsewhere now with Lingard not fully fit having not had a preseason.
Time to move on.
