West Ham United after Keylor Navas as he now looks to leave PSG

Keylor Navas is looking to leave Paris Saint-Germain and West Ham are in the running to sign him, according to Marca Colombia.

The three-time Champions League winner with Real Madrid has been overtaken at the Parc des Princes by Italy international Gianluigi Donnarumma and it is believed that the Ligue 1 side won’t stop him from leaving.

Navas hasn’t made a single appearance so far this season under Christophe Galtier and that has reportedly pushed him to “look for an exit”.

Napoli were close to agreeing a deal in the summer transfer window and remain in the hunt for the 35-year-old, but Olympiacos are also now targeting him and Marca report that West Ham are “after” him too.

The Irons currently have Lukasz Fabianski and Alphonse Areola in the squad.

Worthwhile?

While Polish keeper Fabianski is 37 and may not be at the London Stadium for the long-term Navas is hardly a youngster in comparison.

He would surely command hefty wages given his history and where he is coming from so he is surely only going to come in as a regular starter, especially considering his situation in France.

If David Moyes is taken by him and wants to replace his current league keeper then the Colombian has proven over plenty of seasons that he has the requisite quality.

West Ham

But it’s possible that would then push Areola to look for a West Ham exit, as he will surely have his eye on being the full-time starter once Fabianski moves on or retires, after making his loan move permanent in the summer also from PSG.

The French international has made 28 appearances in a season and a half with the Irons, but only three of those have come in the Premier League.

At 29 he might be willing to remain as the cup keeper for another year at most should Navas be brought in, but it seems unlikely, so this pursuit might ultimately not be worth the cost and the side-effects.
