West Ham United advance talks for Mohammed Kudus transfer
West Ham are advancing in talks with Ajax over the transfer of attacking midfielder Mohammed Kudus, according to The Guardian.
As reported by the newspaper online (17 August), the club’s technical director, Tim Steidten, has flown to Amsterdam to thrash out a deal with the Dutch side for the Ghana international, with confidence growing that an agreement can be reached.
Steidten’s priority is currently signing the 23-year-old, who could cost around £40million, and has been targeted by fellow London clubs Arsenal and Chelsea, as well as Brighton.

West Ham are a fan of the player’s versatility, with a feeling that they could look to utilise him up front.
Bargain
If Steidten manages to get a deal across the line and bring Kudus to the Premier League, it could be viewed as a stroke of genius by the board at West Ham. Selling Lucas Paqueta for almost double the price of a younger and perhaps more versatile replacement would be smart business.
After selling Declan Rice and Gianluca Scamacca, not to mention the fee they could receive for their Brazil international midfielder, the reported £40million for Kudus could be viewed as merely a drop in the ocean.

His 18 goals in all competitions last season suggest there is no reason that David Moyes couldn’t use the player as a striker if need be and his ability to score and chip in with assists will excite supporters at the London Stadium.
Following successful negotiations between the two clubs previously for the transfer of Edson Alvarez, this is certainly an achievable task.
In other West Ham news, the club remain focused on another target elsewhere.
