West Ham United ace Kudus told career at stake unless he changes shirt number

A Ghanaian prophet has warned West Ham United star Mohammed Kudus his career is at stake unless he changes his shirt number for Ghana.

Kudus missed a late penalty as the Black Stars lost 2-1 to Niger on Monday (18 November), ending their hopes of qualifying for the next Africa Cup of Nations.

The 24-year-old now wears the number 10 shirt for his country, which Prophet Clement Quansah, the Head Pastor of Worldlight Revive Centre Worldwide, believes is to blame for his and his country’s poor form.

In quotes attributed to YEN News [19 November], Quansah said: “The biggest mistake the coach made was to give you the number 10 jersey.

“Kudus – return to your number 20 jersey right now. Tell the coach you will not wear the number 10 jersey in the next match.”

He also went on to add: “Let them give the captain armband to Andre Ayew and Jordan Ayew. Your time will come. The realms are fighting you, and your career is at stake.”

Mohammed Kudus having bad time of things for Ghana and West Ham

Kudus’ frustrations at international level have carried over to the club scene, which was clear to see with his red card against Tottenham last month.

The fan favourite is paying the price for that, with his extended ban still a couple of weeks off finishing.

Playing for Ghana over the past week was supposed to provide Kudus with a chance to rebuild some momentum, but that has been far from the case.

Instead, he was targeted by his own fans in the loss to Niger in a game in which he was slated by the local media.

Kudus must now twiddle his thumbs and wait for his extended ban to expire. Once that happens, he quite simply has to hit the ground running.

The last thing Kudus can do right now is feel sorry for himself after the events of the past few months for club and country.

And given he wears the number 14 shirt at the London Stadium and not 10, there will hopefully be no spiritual dark arts to contend with.

In other West Ham news, one key Irons player is citing a lack of ambition from the club as he looks to force a transfer move away.
